DS90UB929-Q1: Does the 0x5A.bit3 exception indicate that there is a problem with the video stream?

Part Number: DS90UB929-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Neusoft after-sales project vehicle instrument screen occasionally black screen problem, the block diagram is as follows:

After checking the log, I found that when the problem occurred, the driver detected an abnormal HDMI signal and read 0x5A.bit3 abnormally. What would cause the 0x5A.bit3 abnormality? Can the chip itself be completely ruled out? Or are there other ways to continue to locate whether there is a problem with the input or a problem with the 929 chip?

  • Hi Alan,

Neusoft after-sales project vehicle instrument screen occasionally black screen problem

Let's start with collecting some baseline information. Please see my questions below:

    • How often is "occasionally"? Aka, how many power cycles does it take for the customer to witness this issue?
    • How many failing units out of how many total units is this issue observed on?
    • Is this issue observed immediately upon start-up or during runtime?
    • Has an ABA swap been performed?
After checking the log, I found that when the problem occurred, the driver detected an abnormal HDMI signal and read 0x5A.bit3 abnormally.

What is "abnormal" in this case for the bit? Is normal = 1 and abnormal = 0? If possible, please provide a full register dump during both a "normal" and "abnormal" run.

    Best,

    Nikolas
