DS320PR810: SAS-3 application

Part Number: DS320PR810

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer want to use DS320PR810 for SAS-3 application, could you please help to provide reference circuit for SAS-3 (12G) redriver?

- MODE pin: Pin mode or I2C master/slave mode

- RXDET pin: Set RXDET= L0

- What is EQ index for 12Gbps loss table?

Thanks and Best regards,

Tiger

  • Hi Tiger,

We don't have a reference circuit for SAS3 applications but I can answer your questions.

    - MODE pin: Pin mode or I2C master/slave mode

This is up to the choice of the customer, we have no special considerations for non-PCIe applications.

    - RXDET pin: Set RXDET= L0

This makes sense to disable RX detection, to my knowledge the SAS3 protocol does not have this feature.

    - What is EQ index for 12Gbps loss table?

If the data rate is 12 Gbps, I assume the data frequency is 12 GHz, therefore the Nyquist frequency (relevant to the redriver boost) is 6 GHz. We don't have table values for this frequency because it is both quite low and also not a PCIe Nyquist frequency. The customer can consult the 8 GHz measurements and assume that the activity at 6 GHz is slightly lower.

    Best,

    Evan Su
