TDP142: TP142 : Request a design review

Part Number: TDP142

Tool/software:

Dear TI team,

I want to design a system that inputs the DP of a general monitor from the eDP output of the video board, as in the structure above.

I have designed a circuit and would like to review the design to check for errors.

And I am reviewing the PCB design, and as shown in the attached PCB picture, Output 2 P/N and Output 3 P/N are crossed and require VIA. Is this okay?

  • Hi Sangmin,
Below are the comments from the schematic:
    1.

It looks like SCL is not pulled up. In addition, I noticed that I2C_EN has an option to be disabled. In this case, we recommend SDA and SCL pins to be connected to the GND or pulled down with 10k resistor. If you can have an option to do so in case you disabled I2C, that would be great.

To your question on the VIA, it is fine to flip as such even though there will be some impedance mismatch.

    Best,

    J

  • Hi J,
    Thank you for your review.
The pull up was my simple mistake.

My test environment is cable mode.
There are decoupling capacitors on both the output of the source board and the input of the sync monitor.

Do I need decoupling capacitors on the input and output of the TDP142? Or should I change them to 0ohm?

And I added a test jumper to meet the conditions of I2C EN.

I am attaching the revised circuit diagram, so please review the circuit.

    Thanks,3122.SCHEMATIC1 _ 01.TDP142_TOP.pdf

  • Hi Sangmin,

If you already have decoupling capacitors on the source and the sink, you do not need more on TDP142 as this can act as a series capacitor and decrease the overall capacitance.

    The schematic looks good.

    Best,
    J
