TUSB2551A is failing enumeration with 4GB Toshiba U2P USB Flash Drive but MIC2551A working fine with it.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB2551A

Hi,

I am a board designer. I have boards loaded with USB transceiver from TI and Micrel, TUSB2551A and MIC2551A. Specification wise they are identical part.

But all my boards with TUSB2551A are having enumeration problem with my 3 pcs of 4GB Toshiba U2P USB Flash Drive but not MIC2551A boards. All boards are built with the same controller. However, i have no problem with other Flash drive with TUSB2551A so far, sandisk, kingston.

  • Tzye,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues. I will need some more information to help in diagnosing any issue.

Can you send a schematic of your board?

Can you send some scope snapshots of DP, DM, VP, VM, RCV for a toshiba flash drive and other passing flash drive?

    Chris

  • After thinking about this a bit more, there are a few other pieces of information that may be useful in debugging this issue.

    1) can you describe the power up sequence with signal definition and biases?

    2) What specifically do you mean by "does not enumerate"?

    3) schematic of your board

    4) scope snapshots of the interface signals both in the beginning of the data transmission (starting with DP pullup) and during the data transmission.

    Thanks,

    Chris
