SN75LVDS84A problems

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75LVDS84A

Hi!

I would like to have help with possible reasons for this circuit to break and give us malfunctional displays.

We use this as our LVDS controller together with Atmels ARM9 AT91SAM9263 and has got a short LVDS cable to a small board inside our box.

Then we use the DVI-I cable as a carrier to a display where we internally have another small board with mainly this DVI-I connector then a connector to meet with the LVDS cable again then to the display.

The lenght of the DVI cable is either 2 or 5 meters but I think that should be no problem for LVDS, right?

The application used is in vechicles such as busses.

We get devices from field where we need to replace SN75LVDS84A due to "dead" display, bad color, unclear display etc etc.

If this is replaced all works fine.

Our idea is that the display is "hot swapped" and that breaks it.

Are there any hints, tips or anything to help solve this issue?

Best regards

Håkan
