What to do with unused pins for AM26C31 & AM26C32.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26C31, AM26C32

Our customer has a question about the quad RS422 driver  &  reciever : AM26C31&AM26C32.
I'm posting the question for a customer:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
When some drivers and receivers are not used ,
what to do with unused pins ?

(pull-up, pull-down or floating?)

AM26C31: input:A , output:Y/Z
AM26C32: input:A/B , output:Y

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

thanks in advance.

  • Takishin-san,

    The RS422 lines A,B,Y,Z do not need any connection, floating is good.
    The digital outputs can float too.
    The digital inputs must be terminated to ground or VCC. A series resistor is recommended (1k to 100k), but not required.

    AM26C31 input A,G,and ~G should be terminated to VCC or GND. Y and Z can float.
    AM26C32 input G,~G should be terminated to VCC or GND. A, B and Y can float.

  • Hi Ron-san,

    Thank you for the clarification!

    Thanks,
