Hi,

 

I'm working on design with the DP83620 PHY in 100baseFX Fiber mode connected to an SFP transceiver.  Is there a specific SFP Fiber transceiver model that is recommended and has been used with the DP83620?  If so, is there an application schematic available for this setup? 

Current hardware setup is the DP83620 with a Finisar FTLF1217P2BTL which is listed for 125Mb/s 100Base-FX Ethernet/FDDI applications.  This setup successfully transmits Ping messages, but is not receiving any data.

    Daryl,

    The DP83620 evaluation board includes a footprint for the Avago AFBR-5803Z and the evaluation board schematics show the expected connections.

    The DP83620 should work with other 100Base-FX optical transceivers, but I do not have a list of recommended transceivers.  One key thing to consider is that the DP83620 interface to the optical transceiver is based on LVPECL signal levels.
