Using the SN65HVD232Q with a non-TI CAN controller

Hi,

I am looking at using the SN65HVD232Q with a Microchip can controller as I am making a small revision to an existing product and I want to use a 3v3 CANbus transceiver with automotive approval.

In the datasheet it says "The SN65HVD230Q, SN65HVD231Q, and SN65HVD232Q controller area network (CAN) transceivers are designed for use with the Texas Instruments TMS320Lx240x 3.3-V DSPs with CAN controllers, or with equivalent devices."

Is the SN65HVD232Q compatible with non-TI CAN controllers?

Hi Luke,

All our stand alone CAN transceivers are just the physical layer of the CAN network. They will work with any standard CAN controller. From the highest level, they are just a level shifter from TXD to the bus and back to RXD with some added features.
