Rosenberger are a German connector manufacturer, and a catalog of their 'HSD' connectors can be found here:
http://rosenberger.de/documents/headquarters_de_en/ba_automotive/HSD_Catalog_2014.pdf
The HSD connector supports two differential pairs per cable. The particular connector used on the 913/914 boards is the D4S20D-40ML5-Y
When operated in single ended mode with COAX, the connector that we most often use is another Rosenberger connector, known as FAKRA. This part number is 59S20X-40ML5-Y.

Q1: The Rosenberger FAKRA connectors are mechanically compatible with SMB connectors. The FAKRA connector has an additional plastic cowl which adds a lock to the connection, so cables do not come loose with vibration, and it makes the connection more water resistant - both requirements in the automotive environment. In the lab, you can intermix SMB and FAKRA connections.
Q2: When using the HSD connections, we generally use cables that we obtain from Rosenberger. They sell connector/cable assemblies in a variety of different lengths.
Q3: The EVK is intended for evaluation purposes, and is therefore made to be as flexible as possible. The PCB footprint that we used can be used either with SMB, or SMA connectors, and we use either of those for COAX evaluations, depending on what the specific system requirements are.
Q4: Current DS90UB913EVMs are fitted with the FAKRA surface mount connector as shown on the right side.
Q5: A common cable which we order which has the FAKRA connectors on it comes from an american company: Pasternack, and can be found here:
