SN65HVD1040-Q1 Normal mode

Guru 16770 points

Hi,

We found a description of a way of termination of SPLIT pin in Figure 15 in datasheet.

According to the datasheet, Vsplit = 1/2 Vcc in normal mode, floating in other modes.

What is the normal mode?

When we use it in high-speed mode,  we should connect 1/2Vcc to Vsplit?

regards,

  • Hello,

In this case, "normal mode" means that the device is not in low-power standby mode (i.e., the STB pin is at a low logic level). Note, though, that the "SPLIT" pin is an output rather than an input. You do not need to connect a voltage to the pin. Instead, you can use the pin's output and connect it to the bus termination in order to help stabilize the common-mode voltage. There is an example of this given in our CAN Termination Guide found here:

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,
    Max
