SN65HVD1040-Q1 Applicaiotn in short power-down and power off

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD1040-Q1

Hi Folks

My customer Alpine (China) is adopting SH65HVD1040-Q1 in their new project.

In their power system, the 5V supply has short power-down and recovery period of 49.6ms. After that, 5V supply is recoveried.

My question is, in this case, if their is any application-risk of our CAN IC after supply being yileded down and recovering back to 5V? Thank you.

  • Hello Na Xu,

The SN65HVD1040-Q1 features glitch-free power up/power down behavior. When the device is unpowered (or loses power for a short time), the device will protect the rest of the bus by placing its bus pins in high impedance. This prevents the driver from loading down the bus and preventing other communications. In addition to this, the TXD and STB pins are internally pulled high so that the device will not attempt to output a dominant level if the pin is left floating. From a design perspective, the recessive level output of the RXD pin is high, so when the supply is removed from a transceiver, you will also see a logic low for that time.
