Hi Team,

I would like to ask about HD3SS3220 and HD3SS2522.
- HD3SS3220: DRP controller with 10G SS MUX
- HD3SS2522: DFP controller with 10G SS MUX

I beleieve HD3SS3220 (DRP controller) could be DFP, and it is smaller package and lower web price than HD3SS2522.
Is there any HD3SS2522 feature that is superior to HD3SS3220?
I wonder where can I introduce HD3SS2522 instead of HD3SS3220.

Hi Yaita-san,

HD3SS2522 has an embedded microcontroller to function and If necessary, the CC controller firmware (FW) can be updated meanwhile HD3SS3220 (newer device) is pure hardware.

I understood HD3SS2522 has an EC.

Which do TI currently recommend if my customer's system is DFP only?
I couldn't catch the situation CC controller firmware (FW) should be updated from now.

Hello Yaita-san,

The simplest solution would be to use the HD3SS3220, which is also a newer device in comparison with the HD3SS2522. On the other side the HD3SS2522 already has the latest firmware available and has the upgrade-ability if it's needed.
