DS90CR215/216 undershoot and overshoot

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90CR215

Hi,

What is the tolerance level of undershoot and overshoot for CMOS/TTL Input Voltage of DS90CR215/216?

Is there a problem the input of the following signals?

Undershoot: -0.8V or Overshoot: +0.8V for pulse width ≤ 20 ns

Best regards,
Seishin

  • Hi Seishin-san,

The DS90CR215 LVCMOS inputs should not receive an input that exceeds the CMOS/TTL input voltage absolute maximum ratings table during typical operation. Doing so for an extended period of time may cause you to trigger the ESD structure for the input pins and cause permanent damage to the chip. Alternatively, you may diminish the lifetime of the device. I suggest that you not operate the device with the undershoot and overshoot conditions you have shown here.

I recommend that you reduce the ringing instead. In order to smooth out the signals to prevent undershoot and overshoot, you can use an RC network before the input in order to slow down the edges so that the ringing is reduced or eliminated.

    Michael
  • Hi Michael-san,

    Thank you for the response.

Immediately,I think that try to reduce the ringing with an RC network.

    Seishin
