Is the TPS65982 capable of routing audio to debug pins?

Hello,

In the USB spec, there is a portion that covers audio on the SBU lines.

I have a customer that's seen a certain reference design that 'possibly' shows audio being routed to the debug pins. Is this actually possible with the TPS65982?

If/when audio accessory is attached, what pins on the part are used for audio (both host side and cable side)?

For instance, if the pins being used are SBU p/n and D p/n, would the PD take care routing those signal differently for audio accessory scenario? Or is some sort of an external multiplexor expected (unlikely)?

Hi Mike,

You cannot route Type-C analog audio through the TPS65982 mux due to the voltage swing. The image below shows the pin mapping for the Type-C connector as an audio accessory output.

The TPS65982 will hi-Z its outputs to allow for an external mux like the TS5USBA224 + TS3A227E to pass in the audio signals and detect mic/AGND appropriately. The TPS65982 will provide the needed GPIOs to an external mux when an audio accessory is detected.
