Customer is looking for TPS65982 and HD3SS460 schematic without power delivery (PD).

(Type-c with USB 3.1 gen1, 5Gbps)

Is there reference schematic for customer request?

I checked reference design library, but I didn't find.

※Customer will use TPS65982 and HD3SS460.

 Non-PD solution is considered as one of the plan.

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

    I would like to clarify your customers requirements.

    Besides USB Type-C with USB 3.1 gen1, 5Gbps, what other features is your customer looking to implement on this port? <15W, any Alternate Modes for example DisplayPort for Video?

    If you are only using the TPS65982 as a CC controller paired with the HD3SS460 then you could look at TIDA-01243's schematic for an idea on the layout (probably overkill for what you previously described, but it is a start). Another option if your customer is not sourcing/sinking more than 15W of power or supporting any Alternate Modes is the HD3SS3220 which is a USB Type-C Mux (3.1) with DRP Port Controller.

    Thank you for reply.

    ・15W is ok, customer only need 5V/3A output.
    ・Customer will support all dongle output, DP, HDMI, and RGB.

    Additional question;
    Can Type-C support multi-display?
    Customer want to output image to two monitors.

    Best regards,
