LMH0307: About 3G-SDI cable driver LMH0307

Part Number: LMH0307

Hi-Expert

My customers have questions about LMH0307.

They are considering using this product as a driver for 3G-SDI cable.

They have questions about the following contents.

<Questions>

・Is it possible to realize using LMH0307×4  when used as a quad 3G-SDI cable?

・Is there a product that is compatible with Quad?

Also, please tell me the configuration example when using Quad cable.

It is even more preferable if the input and output are products that can be used with 4 to 4.

・What signals can be handled by the SDO pin?

I am sorry that I have many questions.

I 'm waiting for an answer.

Best,Regars.

  • Hi Fukazawa-san,

    1. For quad 3G-SDI, you will need four cable drivers. As you suggest, this can be realized by 4 x LMH0307 devices. Note that for quad 3G-SDI, there will still be 4 independent BNC cables, with each cable connecting to a separate connector. There is no single "quad cable."

    2. From the perspective of our cable driver, all of our devices rated for 3G-SDI can support quad 3G-SDI applications. Products that implement quad 3G are ones that ultimately are used for 4K applications, where signal transport is separated to 4 separate channels instead of a single 12G-SDI channel.

I am not sure I understand your question about a configuration example with quad cable. The choice of configuration regarding which signals get sent to which cable driver is determined by the FPGA before our cable driver.

    3. SDO is the SMPTE-compliant output from the LMH0307. It is intended to be sent through a 75-ohm coax cable and interfaced with a 75-ohm interface such as a cable equalizer.

    Thanks,

    Michael
