I just tested without lane swapping, PC -> DP159 -> TMDS171 -> TMDS181 -> Display 1080p@60Hz and the applications works fine.
These are my concerns:
The lane swap feature only works on the input, you will always have TMDS_CLK on OUT_CLK. The figure on the right doesn't reflect the behavior of TMDS181.
We recommend DDC snoop mode, having several TMDS181 in cascade will require extra buffering in DDC. If this is an embedded application and the source supports I2C clock stretching you can use the active DDC block from TMDS181.
