TUSB8044: Can one port be switched into DCP mode while the upstream port is connected?

Part Number: TUSB8044
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2546,

When the upstream port is connected, can one downstream facing port be switched into DCP mode? Other 3 ports continue to be used as SDP.

A customer is using a usb hub and one downstream facing port has TPS2546 now.  The port that has TPS2546 can be switched into DCP mode by pressing a button while the upstream port is connected.

If TUSB8044 can do that, they would replace the usb hub and TPS2546 to TUSB8044.

  • Hello Saito-san,

No, the hub doesn't support DCP mode when the upstream port is connected. DCP charging mode means that no data is exchanged between the host/hub and the charging device. Per the USB specification, all devices connected to the hub should be accessible by the host when the hub is connected and powered on.
