TCA6424A: After reset

Part Number: TCA6424A

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask TCA6424A?

<Question1>
After /Reset asserted, all ports will return to initial condition.
So, the default setting of all ports are input, right?

<Question2>
In relation to <Question1>, when the port setting is input(default setting), if we sent output command(Output Port Registers) without configuration setting,
-Will the device operate with input? Or output command will be destroyed??
-In this case, will ACK command output from the device normally?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hello Matsumoto-san,

    Yes, asserting the /RESET pin will cause the registers to reset to their default values. These default values configure the I/O ports as inputs. If an output port register is written while a port is configured as an input, the port will continue to function as an input. The written value will be stored in the output port register, though, and would take effect if that port were later configured to be an output. The device will still ACK normally as long as it is properly addressed by the I2C write operation.

    Best regards,
    Max
