TUSB319-Q1: Negotiation of charging current limit

Part Number: TUSB319-Q1

Hi,

I would like to know how charging current limit is decided on Type-C application.

I'm understanding that charging current limit is negotiated on CC1/2 line.

However charging current negotiation is executed on also D+/D-.

Which line(CC line or D+/D- line) is preceded for negotiation of charging current?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramuchi,

For non PD devices USB Type-C receptacle shall not advertise current exceeding 3.0A (TUSB319-Q1 advertise a max of 3A). In the  case of PD devices the maximum current capability is up to 5A.

The negotiation is performed through CC lines, according to the Type-C PD spec. Once an attachment is detected, the PD contract is done where the capabilities of cable and source-sink to stablish the maximum current and voltages supported.
