TPS25741: BSMI test issue

Hi,

There is some certification problem during BSMI safety review using TPS25741 for USBC power control in test LAB.

TPS65986 comes with build in switch and has UL and IEC numbers. But for TPS25741 , no any UL or IEC number can be used.

The test LAB short TPS25741 pin 3 (VCONN) and pin 25 (VPWR) and found output current limit function not working well. This test LAB commented that they have right assume any two pin can be shorted together based on below test spec,

Does TI agree on that test method ? How can we solve this BSMI issue?

Hi Gim Song,

VPWR pin can go up to 25 V and VCONN can go only up to 5.5 V. Therefore shorting them may damage the part if VPWR is higher than 5.5 V. However, if VPWR is less than 5.5 V this shouldn't cause an issue with current limit.

I will talk to the systems engineers to get more info on the UL or IEC number that can be used.
