DS25CP104A: Does DS25CP104A support pathological and Check Field video pattern ?

Hi Team,

Please allow me to ask you if DS25CP104A can really support SDI video.

Regarding the data sheet and the app notes, it seems that this device can support EQ/PLL pathological and check field video pattern.

Can you commit that the device can fully support these stressed video patterns ?

Please also let us know if there are any other things what we should take care using in SDI application.

    Hi Kawai-San,

    Please note:

    1). Please note data sheet specifies DC to 3.125Gbps. So you can even DC couple to input. Given this, we are able to pass pathological patterns. You can also use 4.7uF AC couple to pass low frequency content of pathological pattern.

    2). In the typical application block diagram we have 3G SDI equalizer.

    3). Also, we have customers using this device in SDI application and there has not been a reported issue.

    I understand that if DC coupled, pathological pattern could be supported.

    Q4). Can you also support the device to be use with 4.7uF AC coupling cap without any error ?

    Q5). What are the differences between DS25CP104A and DS80PCIxxx / DS64BRxxx repeaters that DS25CP104A is recommended for using under video application, pathological (check field) pattern ?

    Hi Kawai-San,

    Q4). We have SDI customers using DS25CP104A with 4.7uF AC coupling capacitors. We haven't had any report of error else we would not have had SDI as one of the applications in the DS25CP104A data sheet.

    Q5). DS25CP104A is a much older product. Some of the PCI signal conditioners have internal AC coupling caps and thus cannot support pathological video pattern.
