SN75LVPE801: SN75LVPE801 Application Question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75LVPE801, HD3SS3212, SN65LVPE502

Hi, Team

Currently we have SN75LVPE801 as PCIe / SAS re-driver in stock, now our application is pure USB 3.0 data transmission through type-C connector, without DP/ALT mode

There is a mux (HD3SS3212) placed between type-C connector and USB Host processor for USB cable orientation selection, and another PD chip for power delivery negotiation.

What we need is the re-diver / equalizer to improve the signal integrity for USB TX/RX.

May I know if the re-driver SN75LVPE801 is suitable for USB 3.0 5Gbps application please?

Thanks

  • Hi Chenglin,

From a signal conditioning perspective, I believe the SN75LVPE801 should work as a redriver for USB 3.0 signals at 5 Gbps since it is within the supported bandwidth of the device. However, it has not been tested for this, so I would caution that you will need to undertake any tests related to the USB 3.0 protocol to determine whether the SN75LVPE801 performance is acceptable (for example, note that the internal termination for the SN75LVPE801 is 100-Ohms, not 90-Ohms).

I suggest taking a look at redrivers that have been designed for USB 3.0 systems such as the SN65LVPE502.

    Thanks,

    Michael
