    Hi Mick,

    The DS280BR810 and DS280BR820 are linear equalizers.  They provide high frequency gain to help extend serial link transmission - reception distance.  It is difficult to put an exact number on the possible link extension, but with proper layout these devices can add 15dB to the typical link budget.  The actual distance will vary based on transmission line media, material, and design.
