Hi Team,

My customers are using TCAN330G.

On the system, it may be opposed to the CAN transceiver of the original competitor(PCA82C251T).

Can it communicate?

Ohno-san,

The two transceivers can communicate with each other, but one major difference is TCAN330 is a 3.3V CAN transceiver, while the PCA82C251T is a more typical 5V CAN transceiver. The bus voltages on the 3.3V transceiver were designed to still work with a 5V transceiver, but because the recessive levels are exactly the same, there will be common-mode noise emitted. Is there a reason that a 5V TI CAN transceiver wasn't chosen? Something like the TCAN1042?

It is customer's requirement to use 3.3V.

Kenji,

Understood, just be aware that 5V and 3.3V CAN transceivers will emit more noise than all 5V transceivers on a bus or all 3.3V transceivers on a bus because of the slight difference in recessive levels.
