TPS25741: Power Mux Implementation

Hi Team,

Is it possible to implement supporting 5V, 12V and 20V with Power Mux Implementation?
I think the following supports "5V and 12V" or "5V and 20V".



Do you recommend DC-DC Implementation for the requirement?

    You could follow a similar approach to this set up. If you wan to support more than two voltages, you will need to have a DCDC supply, and control the output voltage using the control pins on the '741. You can control an external MUX using the POL pin as it is either high z or low depending on the orientation of the cable.

    I believe you commented POL pin is about MUX control for USB signal not about Power MUX control.
    Is my understanding correct?

    Yes, your understanding is correct. The POL pin is used to control MUX's that are connected to super speed lines. It does not control the power MUX implementation. I thought you were asking how to implement 3 different voltages with a super speed MUX integrated into it. I Did not know you were wanting to use the power mux implementation, but add a third voltage.

    I do not know of a way to support 5V, 12V, and 20V using the power mux implementation, and I would advice against it as I do not know if it is 100% functional.
