TCA9509: I2C buffer Application

Part Number: TCA9509

Dear Team,

We have a query regarding TCA9509DGKR I2C Buffer.

Please let us now whether we can use this I2C buffer for UART Application.

Regards,

Abhishek

  • Abhishek,

I assume that your UART has a TX output that provides a single-ended logic signal using a push-pull output driver and a separate RX input that accepts CMOS logic inputs - is this all correct? If so, then TCA9509 could be used. There are some things you should keep in mind, though:

    - You should make sure that there is compatibility between the input and output high-level and low-level specifications of your UART, the I2C buffer, and any other devices that will need to interface to one another.

    - Pull-up resistances will be needed on the outputs of the "B" side of the TCA9509 since the device implements only a pull-down driver. The pull-up resistance value will influence both the value of the low-level voltage as well as the timing of the low-to-high transition.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

    Regards,
    Max
