TPS65982: TPS65982 Current mode question

Part Number: TPS65982
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65988

Hi Team

Type C Current mode have 900mA / 1.5A / 3.0A 4 modes. We want change mode on system on S0 . We will use I2C to change 0x29.

Havy any concern on this change? If Type C connect have device on TPS65982, Did we need cheage 0x29 and send 4CC command HRST for restert Type C device?

  • Hi Kerr,

You do not need to send HRST after changing the device Type-C Current. It would automatically disconnect and reconnect after that register is changed.

  • Hi Eric
    Thank you!! anthoer question.
1 : Is TPS65988 have same automatically disconnect and reconnect after that register changed ?
2 : Is Vbus will be disable and enable again?
Customer have other project will use 988.
  • Hi Kerr,

No, since the TypeC current field is in register 0x29, the PD controller would not disconnect and reconnect automatically. The changes in this register would take effect next time a connection is made.
