DS92LV3221: 3221/3222 in place of 2411/2412 for 24-bit parallel RGB plus i2c and gpio?

Part Number: DS92LV3221
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS92LV2411

Currently I'm using the DS92LV2411 and 2412 to transmit 24-bit parallel LCD rgb data over lvds.  however, I also have to separately isolate 2 gpio lines and an i2c pair using series resistors, voltage clamps, and a dedicated i2c isolator.  If I were to use the 3221/3222 to transmit/receive the same 24-bit rgb data lines, could i use some of the remaining data lines (since 3221/3222 is 32-bit over 2 lvds pairs) to transmit/receive gpio's and i2c? my understanding is that these devices simply mux and serialize digital lines over a single high frequency differential pair, and then deserialize/demux on the receive end, and therefore it seems to me that the ser/des process shouldn't care what's attached to the inputs as long as they are digital logic levels and not changing states faster than 50MHz.
