SN65HVD01: Datasheet Question (details of schematics)

Part Number: SN65HVD01

Hello. I am looking for greater detail on Figure 17 found in the SN65HVD01 datasheet, specifically in the Receiver and driver portions of the figure. I'm looking for the values of R1, R2, and R3, the details (part number with specs would be ideal) of the back to back zener diodes as well as the unidirectional zener diode, and the purpose/details of the current source in the receiver schematic. Thank you

  • Thomas,

The typical values: R1=180kOhm, R2=30kOhm, R3=40kOhm. The back to back zener diodes represent the internal ESD cells. The unidirectional zener diodes are the internal blocking diode to prevent the reverse current. The current source is used to generate an offset at the input of the receiver, therefore the Vit is shifted down to below zero voltage. By doing this, the transceiver has the fail-safe feature. Please refer to this app note for the details. Please let me know if you have more questions.

    Regards,

    Hao
