AM26LS32A: How to determined the eye diagram width, jitter etc

Part Number: AM26LS32A

Hello,

Im conducting an evaluation test by making an eye diagram for AM26LS32ACPWR as a receiver and AM26LS31CNS/AM26C31CNS as a generator.

Using a diffential probe, i manage to make the eye diagram but i dont know how to determined wether the calculated value is appropiate or not.

Based on the data sheet, the compenents fulfill TIA/EIA-422-B and ITU Recommendations V.11 but when i look into the standard, there were nothing written regarding eye diagram(jitter, eye width) in the documents.

Can you help me by telling the appropiate value(min, typical, max) of its eyes dagram(jitter, eye width, etc) for the components stated above.

Best regards,

iman

  • Iman,

What're the data rate and distance of your application? Previously RS-422 was not running at high speed, therefore the standard didn't give details on the transient spec. You can use 10% jitter as a guide line (like in section 9 of this app note). The real tolerance comes from the system performance. Please let me know if you have more questions.

    Regards,
