DS8921: Is there PDIP other p2p Line Driver/Receiver to it?

Dear Team,

Could you let me know if there are p2p PDIP package line driver/receiver to DS8921? I tried to use the parametric selection tool to find the PDIP p2p part. But it does not seem straight forward to find it through the search tool.

Ting,

DS8921 is generic RS-485 transceiver, therefore any 8-pin full-duplex PDIP RS-485 can p2p with it. Thanks Bobby for showing the details how to find the right part. Please let us know if you have more questions.

Hey Ting,

I usually do not support RS485/RS422 but heres what I found....

I did a search below:

It looks like from a pin out standpoint, the SN65LBC179A seems to match with the DS8921.

I am not sure if the two devices could replace each other though as the 179A seems to be 485 while DS8921 is 422. I've notified one of our subject matter experts to this thread to provide comments in case 179A could be a pin to pin replacement for DS8921. I expect the expert will get back to us tomorrow morning/evening (Dallas time).

I just wanted to update this thread since it was pointed out in another thread (here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/p/923709/3413922) that DS8921's DO+/- pins follow a polarity that is the inverse of all other DIP-package full-duplex transceivers. It has the non-inverting output on pin 6 and the inverting output on pin 5. So, please be careful when migrating to a different part number. The "D" pin polarity need to be reversed or the DO+/- outputs may need to be swapped on the PCB to maintain the same functionality.
