SCANSTA112: Scansta112 ESD considerations

Part Number: SCANSTA112

Hi,

we want to use the B0/B1 ports with external connections (i.e. USB JTAG adapter) and are are wondering if additional ESD protection is needed.
The datasheet states that there are NO ESD clamp diodes on the corresponding input pins, but an alternate method is used . What method is that?
The maximum ratings state 2500 V as the HBM minimum, so i guess the Scansta doesn't call for extra measures in normal applications™  .
Is this correct?

Sincerely
Martin Schrengen

  • Hello,

There is ESD protection up to 2500V (HBM) which uses an ESD structure that doesn't have a clamp diode. Is that sufficient for your application? Normally, if these pins are going to a connector or cable accessible to users, then you might need more ESD protection, as it might be subjected to ESD with much higher voltage levels.

    Regards,
    Yaser
