Hi Sir

My customer want use LVPE801 in SATA 6G application. and he want to know if we can follow datasheet Figure 11 circuit to finish design?

Figure 24 and Figure 27 seems are the same, is it mean we can use Figure 24 to meet SATA Express and PCI-Express design at the same time?

Figure 24 ,may we know why add 470nF in device side? 330ohm pull down resistor is necessary to add?

Hi,

I would not recommend the LVPE801 for new PCIe designs. I would recommend the DS80PCI102 instead, it includes a Rx Detect function to ensure robust PCIe configuration in the system power-up. The LVPE801 is fine for SATA designs. In SATA applications it is only necessary to AC couple the inputs and outputs. The external 330 ohm resistors are not needed.

Hi Lee,

we need the re-driver can support both PCIe and SATA due to root port can flex configue as PCIe or SATA port on Intel platform. Does DS80PC102 still be recommended for this application?

Hi Jimmy,

Yes, the DS80PCI102 or even the DS125BR111 can support both SATA and PCIe.
