TCAN1051-Q1: DTO with TXD low before power up

Part Number: TCAN1051-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1051

Hello,

The DTO timer is to start on a falling edge on TXD, but what if TXD is in dominant before the power is up? Will the device release CAN bus after tTXD_DTO?

  • Hi Oguri-san,

Before power-up, there will be no way to detect a TXD DTO fault, since the device does not have power.  When the TCAN1051 powers up, the device will enter Standby Mode, which will keep the bus recessive regardless of the state on TXD.  When the device has entered Normal Mode, only then will the TXD DTO timer begin when TXD is low.  If TXD is low long enough in Normal Mode (tTXD_DTO), then the bus will go recessive in response to a dominant time-out.
