SN65HVD05: I want to know about meaning of s sentenc in the datasheet

Part Number: SN65HVD05

Hello

Could you explain me detail about following sentence in the datasheet?

"Glitch-Free Power-Up and Power-Down Protection for Hot-Plugging Applications"

Best regards,

Tetsuro

  • Hello Tetsuro-san,

    This means two things:

     - The IOs of the device are high impedance when it is not fully powered (so that they do not sink large currents and disrupt communication if plugged into an active bus while unpowered).

     - When the device becomes powered, the output states will correspond to the state of the input signals.  For example, if DE is low the driver will power up into the "disabled" state and not output high- or low-level glitches onto the RS-485 bus.

Please let me know if this is still unclear or if you have any further questions.

    Regards,
    Max
