SN75LVCP601: SN75LVCP601 as SATA redriver but SATA port cannot find HDD

Part Number: SN75LVCP601

Hi Team,

We've DIN SN75LVCP601 and customer is using it as SATA redriver with Skylake. The redriver is on rear board and the chipset is on the front board. But they met the phenomenon that SATA port cannot find HDD.

For their last generation design, there's no redriver on the board and SATA works well.

We're thinking that maybe SN75LVCP601 have special requirement for DE/QE setting or for Skylake which may cause this phenomenon? Could you please give some comments on that?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Livia

  • When the system is unable to detect a HDD the issue is likely related to OOB signaling.  This Out Of Band signaling requires accurate "active" and "mute" timing for the system and drive to be configured correctly.  As a first step, I would try to use minimal EQ and DE level settings on the LVCP601.  Unfortunately there are not many adjustments to the device which can be made.

Another option is to connect short jumper wires in place of the component to see if this allows the HDD to be detected.

    Regards,
