MSP430FR2110 GPIO ESD Selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR2110, ESD351, ESD321, ESDS314, ESDS304

Hi,

I am trying to select an appropriate ESD to protect a MSP430FR2110 GPIO input pin (P1.3). I need to rate the end equipment according to UL639 requirements of 10kV.

Requirement details: A 250-picofarad low leakage capacitor, rated 20,000 volts DC, in series witha 1500-ohm (10,000-volt) resistor are attached to two leads, allowed to charge at 10kV for 2 seconds and then discharged to the exposed circuit. This is to be repeated for both polarities.

The absolute maximum voltage on the MSP430FR2110 pins is 4.1V, therefore my clamping voltage will need to be below that. The inputs to the GPIO pin are 0-3.3V, so my breakdown voltage will need to be above that. Additionally, since the test is repeated for both polarities, it will need to be bidirectional.

What part(s) do you recommend for this application?
