DS90UB948-Q1: Selection of common mode chock and ESD protection circuit near signal input

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD4E02B04-Q1

Hi Expert,

My customer want to add common chock and ESD protect circuit in front of RIN+-. Do we have selection guideline for this? Thanks!

BRs,

Wilson

  • Hello Wilson,

We would recommend using DLW21SN900HQ2L or a choke with similar spec since this is what is used on the 94x EVM kits.

  • Hi Casey,

Thanks for your reply. How about the ESD protection device?

  • Hello Wilson,

ESD protection is optional based on system design preference, but when selecting an ESD diode the key target is to find ultra low capacitance to ensure that the high speed signal is not attenuated. Also you want to find as low of clamping voltage as possible while still leaving enough working voltage for the FPD-Link signal (which is ~1-2V). SZESD7241's clamping voltage is far too high to provide any significant protection in the case of an ESD event. I would recommend TPD4E02B04-Q1 which has much lower clamping voltage and better capacitance.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
