Hi,
10G-KR and SFI are both serial interfaces running at 10.3125Gbps with 64B/66B encoding. A PHY chip is not required for translation function, as Serialization/De-serialization are not involved. Assuming you have an ASIC/FPGA with KR interfaces which you would like to connect to SFI ports, then one of TI's 10G retimer part numbers would be a suitable interface chip choice. The TI 10G retimers support both of these 10G Ethernet electrical physical medium interface types. Please consider the DS110DF410 (link below)

That is a great idea. The DS125DF111 seems to be the same general retimer with additional autonomous optimization features. WOuld this be a better choice?

Yes, the DS125DF111is a suitable option as well. It all depends on what retimer channel count and configuration you prefer for your system.
