Looking for a 125M - 145M transceiver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS049, DS92LV16, DS92LV18, DS92LV0421, DS92LV0422, SN65LV1224B, SN65LV1023A

Hello TI support,

I'm looking for a generic transceiver able perform 125M-145M datarates.

Could you suggest a part number, please ?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Andrea,

Please see a selection of transceivers here: https://www.ti.com/interface/lvds-m-lvds-pecl/products.html#p404=Transceiver

The SN65LVDS049 is a good option.

    Regards,

    I.K.

  • Hello I.K.

Sorry, i've not filled out all the information...

What i'm looking for is a transceiver/serdes in which one serial differential link (CML/LVPECL agnostic protocol) enter into the device. then clock & data recovery is performed and both the recovered clock and deserialized data are sent out of the device (CMOS/LVDS).

In the other direction, a set of CMOS/LVDS data (and its phase-related clock) enter into the device to be serialized into a single serial differential link.

The bitrate should be something around 150 - 170 Mbs.

    Sorry for the confusion

  • Hi Andrea,

The closest thing we have to this is the DS92LV16. It takes LVCMOS/LVTTL in one direction and serializes it onto a single LVDS link. In the other direction, it takes a single LVDS link and deserializes it into LVCMOS/LVTTL data.

The bit rate is also only 25-80MHz for the LVCMOS/LVTTL parallel data, and 400Mbps-1280Mbps for the serialized data.

    Regards,

    I.K.

  • Hi I.K.

Sounds good, even also DS92LV18 (for which an evaluation board is available) ...

The only thing i'm concerned is the output bit-rate:

for DS92LV16, on the datasheet, it is specified 400 Mbs (min)

    for DS92LV18 i cand get down to 15 MHz*18 = 270 Mbs (min)

Now, I need something around 150/170 Mbs, but maybe these part are ble to do that ...

Could you check it, please ?

    Thanks in advance

    Andrea

  • ... and what about the pair DS92LV042 and DS92LV0421 ?

  • Hi Andrea,

    Sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately those appear to be the only options we have, and we cannot guarantee that they will operate properly at data rates lower than what's specified in the datasheets.

DS92LV0421 and DS92LV0422 are not appropriate for your application as they are not transceivers - they are unidirectional SerDes. Additionally, these devices have to be used as a pair due to proprietary signal encoding on the serial CML link.

If you are okay with just SerDes and not a transceiver then the SN65LV1023A + SN65LV1224B are options.

    Regards,

    I.K.
