SN65HVD234: The input capacitance (CANH or CANL) of SN65HVD234

When I've measured this in the lab before, I was seeing 80-85pF maximum in my setup across 3 units at room temperature. When I subtracted the board capacitance out of the equation it was closer to 50-55pF.  Since this is an older project, access to some of the characterization files is limited. I'm currently trying to find the data across many devices to find a better answer for you.

According to data sheet, this typical value is at 25℃ and with 3.3V. If the temperature will increase, is this input capacitance also increase? If there is some condition to increase the input capacitance, please tell us it also.

Hi Eric,

   What will be Min and Max value we need to consider while designing with SN65HVD234. This is very critical information as we are using this in High Speed CAN bus.

There's going to be a slight part-to-part variation, and from what I've seen in the lab it can vary up to 10pF. What is the datarate of your CAN bus and the amount of nodes on the bus?

Hi Eric The bus speed is 500Mbits and number of nodes CAN bus can vary from use cases . We are keen on the TI part capacitance and it’s tolerance in stand-alone rather than in the bus. Regards Jithu Tharoor

At that data rate you should have no problems using SN65HVD234 due to any bus capacitance parameter.
