DP83867IR: MSP430 LaunchPad with USB-2MDIO GUI tool

DP83867IRRGT PHY transceiver is interfaced with a Xilinx FPGA. When MSP430 LaunchPad and USB-2MDIO GUI tool are used for accessing PHY transceiver register for debugging via MDIO and MDC signals( LaunchPad MDC(P1.4) and MDIO(P1.5)), does the MDIO/MDC traces on our PCB board need to be disconnected? Or it doesn't matter, just connect MSP430 LaunchPad P1.4 to MDC signal and P1.5 to MDIO signal?

Hi Jimmy,

I recommend disconnect any other MDIO and MDC traces that you are not using when using an external launchpad to connect to the MDIO/MDC pins of your PHY.

Hi Cecilia,

Once MDIO and MDC traces on our PCBA board are cut, the ethernet communication with its link partner PC is no long function.

We guess there are some settings by Xilinx FPGA via MDIO/MDC signals at the time of power up.
