The datasheet lists XAUI for 10GBASE-KR low-speed interface, but doesn't specify what the single-lane low-speed interface should be for 1000BASE-KX. Would an SGMII link to an FPGA MAC be appropriate?
Thank you,
Casey

Hi,
The details are included in the TLK10031 datasheet. See excerpt below. Low speed setting is 1.25Gbps half rate

Hi Rodrigo,
Thanks for the reply. We expect to use a REFCLK of 156.25 MHz and a low speed line rate of 1250 Mbps, but what is the protocol? For 10G it's XAUI. What is it for 1G?
Thank you,
Casey
1G-KX is 1.25Gbps 8B/10B encoded data interface across a backplane connection.

Rodrigo Natal
That's the high-speed side of things, yes. I'm asking about the low-speed protocol between the phy and mac.
Thanks,
Casey
I understand that the low-speed side has a 1.25 Gbps line rate and is 8b/10b encoded. But what is the data protocol when the PHY is in 1G-KX mode? Is it still XAUI? Is it SGMII?
Thanks,
Casey
Standard 1G Ethernet in, Standard 1G Ethernet out. So SGMII I suppose.
