DS26C31T: output short circuit protection

Part Number: DS26C31T

Hi sir,

Do DS26C31T and  DS26LV32AT have output short circuit protection?

If not have, what protection do you propose to put at the output in order to prevent damage to the component at short to the GND at the output?

also, not interfering the differential signal?

Thank you for your suggestion in advance.

Regards,

  • Frank,

Both devices have output current limiting circuits internally, see the "Output Short Circuit Current" parameter in both datasheets. This is a limit based on the internal protection circuit on the output pins in case an output gets shorted to ground during operation.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,

  • HI Eric,

    Thank you for your reply.

I saw that parameter, but I wan't sure that it meant that the devices is short circuit protected.
In that case, is it reccomended to put series resistor at the output, or is it unnecessary?

    TKS.

  • Hi Frank,

Series resistors are not necessary limit the current on the line outputs of these devices. This current will be limited internally by the devicer.
