DS110DF410: Whether it is suitable for custom data format

Part Number: DS110DF410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125DF410

Dear colleague,

Customer want to add a retimer between 2 FPGAs, the data rate is 10.3125G, but the data format is custom.

So they want to know whether the DS110DF410 is suitable.

And in the supported protocols, does General Purpose refer to the custom format protocol they use? Is there a requirement for signal rate? In addition, are the functions of EQ, CDR, and DFE in the chip related to the specific protocol? Are there any functions that cannot be used for data in a self-defined format?

Thanks a lot!

Best Regards,

Rock Su

  • Hi Rock, see my inputs below.

Customer want to add a retimer between 2 FPGAs, the data rate is 10.3125G, but the data format is custom. So they want to know whether the DS110DF410 is suitable.

    • The DS125DF410 can handle custom data formats, though the recommended max run length is around 31 bits

And in the supported protocols, does General Purpose refer to the custom format protocol they use? Is there a requirement for signal rate? In addition, are the functions of EQ, CDR, and DFE in the chip related to the specific protocol? Are there any functions that cannot be used for data in a self-defined format?

    • The CDR function is supported for any data rate between 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps plus divide by 2, 4 and 8 sub-rates
    • Automatic EQ adaption is only supported when CDR is locked
    • Fixed/Manual EQ is supported for all data rates
