TPD4E004: TPD4E004 for USB C

Hello,

I am using USB C connector (as USB 2.0 with 5V) for my application with D+ & D- lines. Can I use TPD4E004 for this application? 

This part seems to be more suitable as it has ESD protection for VBUS and D+ D- lines. 

TPD4E02B04 has ESD protection for CC & data lines but not for VBUS protection. So which IC would be best suitable?

    Hello Jian,

    Out of these two parts, TPD4E004 would probably be a better fit since it has a Vcc pin that can serve as Vbus protection. TPD4E02B04 has ultra low capacitance and is meant for much high speed interfaces like USB 3. You would also need an additional device to protect the Vbus line such as a TVS0500 or a TPD1E10B06. 

    Please refer to our System Level ESD Selection Guide for more recommendations on interface specific protection solutions. While TPD4E004 can work, you could possibly have better protection with parts such as ESD122 paired with TPD1E10B06 as shown below.
