TPS65988: TPS65988 PDIO mode

slva855 document refers to "Texas Instruments VID
Config" in configuration registers 0x54. It is not available in customization for tps65988 nor tps65987. Is there some additional setting that enables them?

Hi Adam. I am getting a 404 on this link. Also the link in the GPIO Events application note, which points to https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva855/slva855.pdf, gives 404.

This is very unfortunate. Our design relied on this functionality as it was "available" at the time of project decisions.

Is there any other possibility to issue command (4CC or any kind) in DFP tps65988 controller that will cause GPIO change in UFP device also using tps65988? Note DFP has host controller with I2C capabilities and UFP does not have Host controller.

Apologies for the inconvenience. We may be able to figure something out. What type of events are you wanting the DFP to send to the UFP to trigger a GPIO? Or what is the GPIO on the UFP connected to that you are wanting to control? 

We have two devices interacting with each other. Both of them have TPS65988.

1. Host device is configured as DFP. This device has microprocessor host controller that can be used to send I2C commands to TPS65988.

2. Slave device is configured as UFP. This device does not have any microcontroller. TPS65988 is configured to announce user alternate mode. Host recognizes this alternate mode and acts accordingly. Slave also needs two additional GPIOs (GPIO0 and GPIO1) that can be independently controlled by host (actually GPOs will suffice.) .

Initially we considered PDIO as obvious solution for this problem. However it is no longer supported.

Question 1. Since PDIO events are available in I/O Config of TPS65988 can slave be forced to react on PDIO compliant message send by host (invoked through its I2C interface)? Will salve device react on PDIO messages despite not offering PDIO Alternate Mode?

Any type of events that will get the job done. Initially we assumed it would be TI PDIO messages.

We want to control GPIO0 and GPIO1 outputs in UFP slave device.

Unfortunately there are not a lot of options to meet this functionality. The only ideas I have is to be creative with the below events and enter into them when you want to trigger a GPIO 

As far as the PDIO functionality, the GUI is actually mistaken as these events are not shown as an option within the host interface technical reference manual. TPS65987D Technical reference Manual
