TUSB3410: USB to RS-232 application

Hi,

I am find USB to RS-232 application and need ESD protect on RS-232 connector side, if I choose TUSB3410 + MAX3232, is it ok?

TUSB3410 level is 3.3V output so need MAX3232 Line Driver/Receiver move to -6~+6V, right?

Anything need notice on this application?

Hi Jeff,

Correct, a line driver for RS-232 side should be used. You can also look at SN75LV4737A (recommended) for this. This device also has internal ESD protection.

Hi Malik,

But how to choose driver/receiver package?

As I know, RS-232 DB-9 connector should be 8 pin used 3 driver/5 receiver?

But what is 1 driver/ 1 receiver and 2 driver/ 2 receiver application?

If no control flow is used a 1 driver 1 receiver device could be used.
