SN65LVDT33: IBIS model shows the max differential input voltage violating datasheet spec

Part Number: SN65LVDT33
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS33

Team,

Working on simulating a design and The simulation using the SN65LVDT33 part shows the max differential input voltage of ~860-930mV peak-to-peak, which is violating the datasheet requirement, VID=800mV.  It seems the SN65LVDT33 has a tight input differential voltage requirement... For this case, do you recommend using the SN65LVDS33 part with the external diff termination instead? Or do you have any other recommendations?

The IBIS model found in the product page didn’t include the termination resistor so simulation was done with added 110ohm differential termination in the model

  • Hi Michael,

If you're not able to reduce the swing of the input to less than 800mV then yes, I recommend switching to the SN65LVDS33 and using external termination. Note that the termination does not necessarily have to be 110ohms - it needs to match the characteristic impedance of the transmission line.

    Regards,

    I.K.
